Meyers or Myers? The Vitamin Cocktail Pittsburgh Keeps Misspelling

Every week, someone messages us asking about a "Meyers cocktail." I know exactly what they mean. The spelling is so common that we named this post after the mistake — but the real name matters, because it tells you where the drip came from.

Myers cocktail in Pittsburgh — what's in the IV bag

The doctor behind the name

The cocktail is named for Dr. John Myers, a Baltimore physician who, in the 1960s, began giving his patients an intravenous mix of vitamins and minerals. He did not publish a formal recipe. When he died in 1984, one of his patients, Dr. Alan Gaby, wrote down what he believed the formula had been, and the mix that became known as the Myers cocktail spread from there.

So: Myers, not Meyers. No "e." If you see it spelled "Meyers" on a menu, it is the same thing — but now you know the history, and you can correct the receptionist with confidence.

What is in a Myers cocktail

The modern Myers cocktail is a mix of vitamins and minerals in IV fluids. At Swan, it includes:

- Magnesium

- Calcium

- B-complex vitamins

- Vitamin B12

- Vitamin C

The idea is straightforward: deliver these nutrients directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the gut, in a single visit. People book it for general wellness, for feeling run down, or as part of a routine they already keep. Some clients book it regularly. Others try it once and decide for themselves.

Honest limits

I will be direct: the research on Myers cocktails is limited, and the strongest evidence is for correcting deficiencies rather than for general energy or immunity claims. What we can honestly say is that it is a well-established IV formula, delivered by a nurse after screening, and that many clients report feeling better afterward. We do not promise outcomes we cannot guarantee, and if you have a medical condition or take medications, your own doctor should be part of the conversation.

Who books it

In our experience, Myers clients tend to be people who already take their wellness seriously — people managing busy schedules, recovering from travel, or looking for a regular reset. It is also a common first booking for people who have heard the name and want to try it. If that sounds like you, you are in good company.

What the visit looks like

Like every Swan visit, a Myers cocktail starts with screening — health history, medications, and allergies — a short Good Faith Exam by phone, and a signed consent. Then we come to you, anywhere in our seven-county service area, 7am to 10pm daily. The visit takes about an hour. The Myers Cocktail is $275, and you can see our full IV menu (https://www.swanhydration.com/ivmenu-content) or book directly from our appointments page (https://www.swanhydration.com/appointments).

One more thing about the spelling

If you have been writing "Meyers" for years, do not worry — you are not alone, and we knew exactly what you meant. But now you know: it is Myers, after Dr. John Myers, and that small correction is a nice piece of trivia to carry into your next appointment.

Not sure if it is right for you? Call or text us at 412-312-4707. We will answer honestly, and we will never push a booking that is not a good fit.
