What’s Actually in an IV Drip?

By Mercedes Denham, RN, BSN — Founder, Swan Hydration

People ask me this all the time, usually while they're watching the bag fill: what's actually in there?

The short answer is: less mystery than you'd think. Every drip we run starts with the same base, and everything after

that is chosen for the person in the chair — not pulled off a shelf at random.

What's actually in an IV drip — ingredients explained

The base: one liter of saline

Every Swan drip starts with a full liter of saline — sterile salt water balanced to match your body. That liter is the hydration itself. It's why most people are here, and everything else is an addition to it, not a replacement for it.

The add-ins

B-Complex. Five B vitamins — B1, B2, B3, B5, and B6. They're the crew your body uses to turn food into energy, which is why they're in most of our blends.

Vitamin B12. Supports energy and focus. It’s the one people ask for by name more than any other.

Vitamin C. An antioxidant that supports your immune system. Straightforward, well understood, no magic claims from me.

Magnesium. Involved in muscle relaxation. If your legs feel like they ran the day even when you didn't, this is the one we talk about.

Zinc. Immune and skin support. Quiet, unglamorous, useful.

Glutathione. Often called the body’s master antioxidant, because your own cells make it and use it everywhere.

And NAD+ is its own visit

NAD+ isn't an add-in — it's a drip of its own, and it's slow on purpose. Depending on the dose, it runs two to five hours. I explain why on our NAD+ page, but the short version is: your body does better with it given time.

Who decides what goes in your bag?

Not a menu board. Every visit starts with a Good Faith Exam — a real check-in with a licensed provider who reviews your health history and decides what's appropriate for you. If something isn't right for you, it doesn't go in the bag. That's not a sales policy. That's nursing.

If you're curious what a visit looks like start to finish, I wrote that up too. And if you already know you're ready, booking is open 7am to 10pm, every day — we come to you.
